Facing the Mountain: Indigenous Healing in the Shadow of Colonialism

Writing this book was cathartic for me. I felt a great release at being able to expose Canada’s history of nuclear colonialism, the extraction of Uranium for NWT and Saskatchewan, the harm done to Indigenous people. My family’s history has links to the cold war, to health issues created by radiation and toxicity. High rates of cancer everywhere, and particularly close to mining sites, is one troubling consequence of extraction. I am interested in exploring the connections between extractivism and the harm against Indigenous bodies and the body of Mother Earth.
