Speaking the Wisdom of our Time

Description:

This co-authored book describes Métis approaches to social policy within Métis communities.  The authors, both Métis mothers, researchers and social work educators, turn to traditional teachings and the words of Elders to inform today’s social work interventions.  Unfortunately, colonial top-down approaches tend to undermine culturally-based interventions.  This book offers recommendations for how to assist Métis people in the reconnection with culture, community and kin as well as expanding relationships with the natural world as sources of healing.
